Dear Lewisham Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Lewisham Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Temporary accommodation available to let on 15th August 2024'.

Q1 asked for all properties available to let as temporary accommodation (TA). And Q2 for the properties let as TA. Therefore Q1 should inherently have listed all the properties from Q2, and should be significantly longer. Q1 only listed 1 property, compared to 5 at Q2.

Please can the answer to question 1 be checked, and if there were more properties available to let as TA on the relevant day, can they please be listed.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/t...

Yours faithfully,

Jo Staines

Dear Jo Staines

Re: Freedom of Information Act 2000
Environmental Information Regulations 2004
Reference No: 27093113 - Appeal response

We have now considered your appeal of our original response to you. Your request was for information relating to Temporary accommodation available to let on 15th August 2024. In summary, we wish to uphold our original response but provide some further explanation provided by our Housing Colleagues:

The reason for the discrepancy is there is a time lag between recording new properties procured and available to let, and recording new temporary accommodation placements.

The shorter duration of many temporary accommodation placements and suppliers mean that the allocations are not done based on bids against a predefined property list in the same way as longer-term properties on the housing register are let.

As the requestor is interested in all properties that could have been let on that day, for their purposes they may combine the two lists of postcodes.

We hope you find this response to your review satisfactory, however, you have a further right of appeal against this decision, which you can do so in writing, stating your reasons to the regulating body, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You should make complaints to the ICO within six weeks of receiving the outcome of an internal review. The easiest way to lodge a complaint is through their website: www.ico.org.uk/foicomplaints. Postal address: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, SK9 5AF.
