What manufacturer of LAN equipment do you utilise?
How much did the organisation pay for the equipment?
When was the equipment purchased?
What company provides the support/maintenance for the equipment?
How much money is being spent annually on support/maintenance of
the equipment?
When does the support/maintenance contract come to an end?

WAN
Do you have a WAN?
What company provides the underlying infrastructure of the WAN?
What company manages the WAN?
How many end points are there?
What are the main connection types? E.g. ADSL, EFM, Fibre
When was the WAN first installed?
How much was paid for the WAN on the last contract signing date?
When does the contract come to an end?

Telephony
What manufacturer of telephony equipment do you utilise?
How much did the organisation pay for the equipment?
When was the equipment purchased?
How many employees use the equipment?
What company provides the support/maintenance for the equipment?
How much was paid for the support/ maintenance on the last contract
signing date?
When does the contract come to an end?
Has any form of unified communications been deployed?
Who provides the ISDN/SIP lines to the organisation?
When does the contract for the provision of ISDN/SIP lines expire?
Who provides the organisation with mobile phone contracts?
How many mobile phones are currently under contract from the
organisation
When does this contract expire?

Internet
What internet provider is being used for the organisations primary
connection?
What bandwidth does the organisation have available?
How much was paid on the last contract signing date?
When is the contract due to be renewed/end?

Offers of Objects:
If you have written to offer an object to the museum, we are very grateful
for your support and interest in the Science Museum.

All offers are collated and presented to the curators of the Science
Museum at their monthly curatorial meeting where the offers are considered
and it is determined which objects should be accepted. Accordingly, should
we wish to proceed with your offer, we will contact you within 6 weeks of
the date of receipt of your offer.

If you have not received a response from us within 6 weeks, please assume
that, on this occasion, we are unable to accept your generous offer.

Meetings with Curators/Other Science Museum Personnel:
If you have requested to meet with or speak to one of the Science Museum’s
curators, or other member of Science Museum staff, we will endeavour to
contact you within 20 working days.

Dear Chris Corlett,

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act (2000) requested dated 9th
January 2013 with regards to the possibility of obtaining information
relating to the Museum's telecommunications infrastructure.

Upon reviewing your request, unfortunately, the Museum is issuing a part
refusal notice on a number of the points raised. The Museum is relying
on the following exemption as outlined in the Act:

Section 43(2) - commercial interests

It is considered that the public interest in withholding this
information outweighs the public interest in disclosing it. I am sorry
for any inconvenience this may cause.

However I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the
Museum takes it Freedom of Information Act responsibilities very
seriously. The Museum is committed to releasing as much information as
possible and would only consider using an exemption as a final resort.
Unfortunately, in this instance, it has been determined that some of the
information requested cannot be released.

If an answer to a specific question has not been detailed below then you
should assume this information has been withheld under the above Freedom
of Information Act exemptions.

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act (2000) the Museum is
able to supply the following information:

1) The name of the Head of ICT

Information Communication Technology functions ultimately fall within
the remit of the Human Resource Director of the Museum; Adele
McAllister.

2) How many people work for the organisation?

Science Museum London (including storage sites Blythe House and
Wroughton) - 575

National Media Museum - 166

National Railway Museum (including Shildon) - 243

Manchester Museum of Science & Industry - 115

These figures are of course approximations and are in a constant state
of flux due to operational needs/staff turnover. For further information
