Technology Enabled Care and Support
Dear council team
I am looking for information about technology enabled care and support and its use as part of social care in your local authority area. I am looking for this information under freedom of information legislation and as such, would expect to be sent this information within 20 working days.
1. Do you currently use technolgy enabled care and support in your local authority? If so, when was this first introduced?
2. How many people have received social care packages with an element of technolgy enabled care and support:
a) since this was introduced?
b) as of January 2022?
3. How many of these packages are in relation to the provision of overnight care?
I look forward to confirmation that this query has been logged and to the information in full. Please contact me if anything here is unclear.
All best
Karin

Dear Karin Goodwin
Request for information: Technology Enabled Care and Support
Reference: argyllbuteir:13715.
I refer to your request for information which was dealt with in terms of
the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).
I have provided the following information in fulfilment of your request:
1. Do you currently use technology enabled care and support in your local
authority? Yes
If so, when was this first introduced?
Prior to 2017, Telecare Service records were held on a standalone
database. Current service users records were migrated to our centralise
Management Information System (CareFirst), and based on this information
the earliest service agreement for Telecare services recorded is 1994.
With the integration of Health and Social Care in Argyll and Bute, a
specific Technology Enabled Care programme including Telecare and enhanced
packages and a range of other Telehealth programmes has been in place for
six years and is continually evolving.
2. How many people have received social care packages with an element of
technology enabled care and support:
a) since this was introduced?
Based on information from our MIS (CareFirst) there are have been 4804
people recorded as having received technology enabled care.
b) as of January 2022?
Based on information from our MIS (CareFirst) there were 2000 people
recorded as having received technology enabled care, as at 1^st Jan 2022.
3. How many of these packages are in relation to the provision of
overnight care?
All Telecare service users have access to a 24/7 service which can alert
key holders, responder services or emergency services to a clients need at
any time of day or night and levels of access will vary and depend on
individual circumstances. We would not be able to provide data on the
levels of overnight care response, as this would be held on our third
party partner’s responder service management information system.
