Dear Sir

Please find enclosed information in response to your information request;

Q1. Dates of increase and amount increased for the grant of Licensing fees
in relation to Private Hire Vehicles, Operator licence & Hackney Carriage
Vehicle licence since they were last at £25 as each. Please provide this
in a date line order so that each increase can be traced back.

A. In relation to Hackney Carriage (vehicle and driver) fees there is no
obligation for the Council to advertise or consult on these fees. However
the fees must be `reasonable'.

The Council is only required to advertise increases in fees relating to
Hackney Carriage Operators, Private Hire Vehicles, and Private Hire
Operator Licences. The advertising of these increase should be by way of
Public Notice in a newspaper circulating in the area.

Fees for vehicle grants include all plates, the renewal fees include
updated internal plates. The fees for the driver grants include CRB and
DVLA checks and badges. The driver renewal fees include updated badges.

All fees for vehicle grants and renewals also include the officer
inspections required by the Council's Policies and Procedures.

Q2. The publication and date in which notices appeared.

A. Please find the attached Notice published in the North Wales Weekly
News on the 1st July 2010.

Q3. If any operator ever objected.

A. No objections were received in relation to the above increase.

Q4. What are the current fees for Private Hire Vehicle Grant & Renewal and
Driver Grant & Renewal.

A. Please see attached schedule of fees.

If for whatever reason you are unhappy with the response please contact

Dear Info Regs Unit/Uned.Rheol-Gwyb,

I have not received the information I requested. Perhaps you misread my request as I wanted historical data not just the last fee rise.

To clarify and perhaps reduce the work involved I am specifically interested in the past fee increases for the GRANT of Private Hire and Vehicle Licences in Conwy County Council.

I do appreciate that it may be difficult to give this information back as far as 1976 so I revise my request to just the past 5 fee changes.

Can you please tell me the following;

The Date and publication in which the prior notice of intended increases appeared for the past 5 increases in GRANT of Private Hire Vehicle & operators Fee's.

The Date of implementation of the past 5 increases in Grant fee's for private hire operators and vehicle licences.

Yours sincerely,

Kerry Pepperell

Dear Conwy Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Conwy Council's handling of my FOI request 'Taxi Licence Fees & Historic Increases.'.

I have twice asked now for the name and date of the publication that increases to the grant of licences were notified.

Obviously I suspect that the increases have not been properly publicised and could not get a straight answer using normal methods, hence I made this official request under the Act.

I cannot believe that intelligent officers have misread my requests twice and so can only conclude from this that the information is not available because it was never published in the 1st instance.

It is a specific requirement of the Local Government (miscellaneous provisions) Act (1976 C57) part II section 70 that the increases be Published in a "Local" publication.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
