Dear Pinar Bilgin

Our ref: FOI-2310-2223/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13

[1]www.tfl.gov.uk/modes/taxis-and-minicabs/taxi-fares/tariffs

 2. When did hackney carriages start to accept credit/debit card payments?

All licensed taxi drivers were mandated to accept credit and debit card
payments, including contactless, with effect from 3 October 2016. Further
information can be found on our website:
[2]https://content.tfl.gov.uk/09-16-changes....

3. Have hackney carriages implemented online booking system (like Uber
application)? If yes, when?

Transport for London does not regulate taxi app platforms. To do so would
require legislative change as there are no provisions within the current
regulatory framework. There are a number of taxi booking platforms,
however we do not hold information on when this was initially implemented.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached
information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
