Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

In the Work and Pensions - Third Report,Prepared 6 May 2006: https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm...

It says:

"reduce the number of people claiming incapacity benefits by one million;

increase the number of older workers by one million"

Can you please provide the information you hold that explains precisely how these two "one million" figures were arrived at, for the reduction and the increase targets?

Are these references to "one million" purely arbitrary figures or based upon research and analysis that you can also share with me?
