Suspension Data

The request was successful.

Dear Cumbria Constabulary,

Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act could you please
provide the following information for your force;

a) Over the last 3 years, how many officers have been suspended
from duty.

b) Of the officers suspended, how many were investigations for
allegations of a criminal nature.

c) Where the officer were suspended as a result of a misconduct
only allegation,
what was the nature of the misconduct.

To be clear, I am specifically NOT requesting personal details of
the officers concerned, merely a total figure plus nature of
alleged wrongdoing in c).

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Miss Davies

Dear FOI Email,

I believe that my application is
compliant with the requirements of the Act.

See this guidance from the Information Commissioner (January 2009).

"... the same guidance also says it is good practice for the public
authority to still consider a request made using an obvious
pseudonym. You should refer to this if a public authority refuses a
request because you used a pseudonym.

Be careful though, even if the authority follows this good
practice, the pseudonym will probably make it impossible for you to
complain to the Information Commissioner later about the handling
of your request.

There are several good alternatives to using a pseudonym.

Use a different form of your name. The guidance says that "Mr
Arthur Thomas Roberts" can make a valid request as "Arthur
Roberts", "A. T. Roberts", or "Mr Roberts", but not as "Arthur" or
"A.T.R.".
Women may use their maiden name.
In most cases, you may use any name by which you are "widely known
and/or is regularly used".
Use the name of an organisation, the name of a company, the trading
name of a company, or the trading name of a sole trader...."

I thank you in anticipation

Yours sincerely,

Miss Davies

Dear FOI Email,

I note my FOI application is overdue. Could you please advise when I can expect an update.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Davies

Dear Cumbria Constabulary,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cumbria Constabulary's handling of my FOI request 'Suspension Data'.

I have made a legitimate application under the requirements of the legislation. Cumbria police have not even had the courtesy to respond to the prompts I have submitted as a result of failing to provide the requested data within the required timescales.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Miss Davies
