I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on behalf of Crohn's & Colitis UK to request the following information:

1. To what extent are the British Society of Gastroenterology Inflammatory Bowel Disease colorectal cancer surveillance endoscopy recommendations been implemented in this Trust? If they are being partially implemented, please outline which areas are currently being met.

2. What percentage of Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients are currently overdue their surveillance endoscopy based on the timelines set out in the British Society of Gastroenterology consensus guidelines on the management of inflammatory bowel disease in adults (2019)? Please provide this information broken down by high risk, intermediate risk and lower risk as out in this same guidance

3. What plans are in place to manage the Inflammatory Bowel Disease colorectal cancer colonoscopy surveillance backlog in light of the COVID-19 pandemic?

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) came into being on 1st
April 2006 and assumed responsibility for the services provided by both
the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital NHS Trust
(NCH).

 

We note that we have received an earlier request from you relating to the
same or very similar information within the last 60 consecutive working
days.  (DR62820, received 18 September 2023).  Under Section 12(4) of the
Act we aggregate such requests and calculate the cost of handling one of
them as the cost of handling them all.

 

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case I will
let you know. A fees notice will be issued to you, and you will be
required to pay before I will proceed to deal with your request.

 

You will receive the information requested within 20 working days allowed
under the Act unless the Trust does not hold the information or there is a
reason for it to be withheld. I will write to you in any event.
