Dear Ms Stevens

Request for Information

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act (FOI) request, as received
on 2 October 2017 and acknowledged on 3 October 2017.  For information,
the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the largest and
busiest NHS teaching Trusts in the country incorporating Leicester Royal
Infirmary, Glenfield and Leicester General hospitals.  Our three hospitals
have around 15,000 staff serving around 1.2 million people across
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and a further two to three million
people from the rest of the UK who come to us for treatment from one of
our specialist services.  During 2016/17 we treated 1,406,300 patients
(that’s 3,852 patients each day) – 56,500 (or 4%) more patients than in
2015/16.

Following consultation with colleagues from the Corporate Medical and
Litigation teams, I confirm that the Trust holds information covered by
your request.  Your request is set out in bold below, and I am advised
that obtaining information for questions 4 and 5 would require a search of
287 electronic and paper files for question 4, and 58 files for question
5, and that at 30 minutes per file this would amount to 172.5 hours.
This exceeds the 18-hour ‘appropriate limit’ and in reliance on section
12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 the Trust will not therefore be
progressing your request further.  It may be that if you were able to
refine your request, there might be information which could be provided to
you within the 18-hour appropriate limit.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 section 16 duty to advise and
assist requesters, I am able to confirm that the response to question 1
below is zero.
