Supported Living Statistics for those with Learning Disability
Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
In the Wirral Learning Disability Housing Plan 2012 - 2015 the Wirral Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)2 indicates that: "As at March 2011, the people with Learning Disabilities known to DASS were accommodated in the following settings:
• 122 people in residential/ nursing care homes
• 170 people in supported housing schemes
• 16 people in adult placements
• 14 people in independent / NHS long stay hospitals
This makes a total of 322 people. DASS have further advised that there are approximately 614 people with learning disabilities who are living with carers (in most cases, family members of varying ages). This makes a combined total of 936 people with learning disabilities known to DASS in various accommodation types. "
1) Please provide the above information for each of the calendar years ending 2012, 2013 and 2014.
2) For each year, please also provide the number of people with Learning Disabilities who were:
a) on the waiting list for accommodation at the end of the year (please also provide the subtotal of those who need their accommodation to be "Fully adapted for a wheelchair" ) - See Note 1 below
b) placed in accommodation within the year (please also provide the subtotal of those who needed their accommodation to be "Fully adapted for a wheelchair" )
3) For each of the people on each waiting list at the end of 2012, 2013 and 2014, please provide the number of months they have been waiting since the request was first registered, again indicating for each person whether they needed their accommodation to be "Fully adapted for a wheelchair".
4) For each of the people placed in accommodation for each year, please provide the number of months the whole process took since the request was first registered, again indicating for each person whether they needed their accommodation to be "Fully adapted for a wheelchair".
Yours faithfully,
Mr Brian Donaldson
