Supply Teaching
Dear Stockport Borough Council,
I am interested in the amounts paid by each school in
Stockport Borough Council LEA to third parties in relation to temporary
staffing cover. My hope is to receive an electronic breakdown of
amounts paid through the department's purchase ledger by school for
the 3 month period January to March 2011. I would like this
information to be broken down by Primary, Secondary, or SEN school
and to detail the amount spent by supplier each month.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Wilson

you wish to proceed; however such charges are usually waived if they

Dear Mr Wilson,
I am writing in response to your request for information below (Ref 4304).
The response to your request has been prepared by the relevant Council
service and is as follows:
Please find attached a file which provides summary information of
temporary supply costs incurred on a school by school basis.
Schools have two available options to procure supply teachers:
a) The Local Authority registered pool of teachers
b) 3^rd Party external agency
As the schools have different procurement options available, the Local
Authority does not hold all of the source data in relation to such
matters.
The attached file shows the expenditure incurred for each school for the
requested period via the Local Authority pool of Supply teachers (Col A).
However as schools engage directly with 3^rd party agencies for the
procurement of any other supply teachers, the information held by the
Local Authority is only for the total expenditure incurred by each school
for the whole of the financial year and not for the individual agencies
and/or teachers concerned (Col B). Should you require any additional
information on the latter, a separate request would need to be directed to
the individual school concerned.
If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your request you are
entitled to ask for an internal review. Any internal review will be
carried out by a senior member of staff who was not involved with your
original request. To ask for an internal review, contact [1][email
address] in the first instance.
If you are unhappy with the outcome of any internal review, you are
entitled to complain to the Information Commissioner. To do so, contact:
