Dear Madam

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 – INFORMATION REQUEST 6523

Thank you for your request for information.

2. Does the current system fulfil the requirements of the policy? = As above

3. Do you currently outsource any 1-1 care for patients displaying challenging behaviours or have to rely on backfilling or security? Please state your current arrangements. = Yes – we utilise the Trust Bank and agency arrangements – coordinated through the Nurse Bank Office who access external provision through Day Webster.

4. If out-sourced which department or individuals would be responsible for deciding to call additional staff onto site? = Local site management identifies operational requirement and seeks to cover through existing staff. Where this is not possible this is escalated via the bank office. Senior divisional managers are required to authorise agency use.

5. How often does the Trust require assistance with patients displaying challenging behaviours? = This is a rare occurrence - we are unable to identify any figure.
6. What is the current average monthly spend on these services (last 3 months)? = We are unable to separate the spend for these particular services from other Bank and Agency spend.
7. What specific training do staff providing these services receive? = Local induction
8. Who is the Trust Lead for these services, please provide contact details. = Director of Nursing - contact details can be found at www.wyevalley.nhs.uk
