Dear Sir/Madam

There isn’t a specific “gas flaring” public register.

However we may supply data from sites holding an environmental permit in
England that flare gas, if that’s what you require, (please confirm your
specific requirements).

Our remit is restricted to England.  Contact details for the equivalent
organisations who cover Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are below:

Dear F Connolly

Enquiry regarding a list of sites that have a permit to flare gas.
Additionally if possible please could you provide the volume of gas flared
annually.

Thank you for your enquiry which was received on 25 May 2018.

We respond to requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and
Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

We attach a spreadsheet summary of landfill sites that are required to
report the volume of landfill gas either flared or utilised in engines to
generated electricity. The most recent data is for 2016. The data for 2017
hasn’t been released yet. The landfills on the list are sites that were
re-permitted under the Landfill Directive. We are also responsible for
older closed landfill sites, many of which will flare landfill gas.
However these older landfill sites are not required to report the
quantities of landfill gas flared under their permits.  Please refer to
[1]Open Government Licence which explains the permitted use of this
information.

We have interpreted your request as relating to landfill sites.  If we
have misinterpreted your request please let us know.

Please get in touch if you have any further queries or contact us within
two months if you’d like us to review the information we have sent.

Yours sincerely

Dear National Requests,

By petrochemical facilities I mean facilities that use oil or gas products in their manufacturing and therefor may require a flare eg CF Fertilisers or INEOS.
