You sent us a Freedom of Information request on 08/05/2018

Your request number is CRN00167303

Our reply to your request is:

How many Bristol City Council staff have committed suicide since 1
January 2012 - present?
Our Human Resources system does not routinely record the information
requested in a reportable field unless the death of an employee
occurs in work. To ensure that no such information is contained
within the notes field of any employee’s personnel file would require
the manual interrogation of approximately 11,400 files, which would
take the Council longer than the appropriate limit (18 hours of
Officer time) to respond to your request. This is in accordance with
Regulation 3 of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection
(Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004:
[1]http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2004/...
Of those deaths in work from 1 January 2012 none are recorded on our
Health & Safety database as suicide.

How many of these were signed off from work due to work-related
health issues?
As above.

This response should answer your request in full.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, or if you want to appeal
against any exemptions:
