Suicide of Frank Barnshaw
Dear Stockport Coroner's Office,
My cousin took his own life in late April this year on the moors beside the A57. Understandably finding his body was compromised by the terrain. I spoke on behalf of the family at his funeral. I presume a PM provided no evidence of foul play. As a retired surgeon I would be most interested to know if and when an inquest will be held.
My cousin's problems were known to us (family) but we have been made aware of correspondence indicating his state of mind and intention. I cannot comment on the content specifically as this information was given to me second or third hand. I simply feel that if true our services to help those who ask for it, need to respond. The first duty of any doctor is 'first, do no harm'. An absence of action can be as harmful as inappropriate action. I cannot comment on the role of social services in this case but they were involved.
Yours faithfully,
Roger Jones
