Suffragette Line PIS Announcements
Dear Transport for London,
I am seeking audio that is used on your passenger information systems on the London Overground network used on both stations and onboard trains.
Specifically, I am only seeking announcements that are used on both the Class 710 units and at all platforms/stations on the Suffragette Line, Gospel Oak / Barking Riverside inclusive.
I’m hoping for the most up to date versions of audio and not out of date / historic.
These are for personal collection and not intended for distribution or public use.
Yours faithfully,
Charlie Jones

Dear Charlie Jones,
Our ref: FOI-3218-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 07 January 2025 asking for our audio announcements.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. In accordance with the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply the information you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. TfL has a pre-existing plan to publish this data with the aim of doing so after January 2025.
This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
Tahsin Prima

Dear FOI,
Thank you for your fast response.
It seems this information has already been requested by another user in August 2023 and was a partial successful request.
Please find that request here: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/l...
Can I ask what are the differences in these requests and how I can obtain the link that was provided in the separate request, which was sent privately to the applicant.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Jones
Dear Charlie Jones,
Our ref: FOI-3218-2425
Thank you for your follow up query received by Transport for London (TfL) on 08 January 2025.
Please accept my apologies for the confusion. As you requested for the 'most up to date versions of [London Overground] audio' the Section 22 exemption was applied in response to your request as the London Overground team are aiming to log and upload the latest sound files into their database after January 2025.
If you would still like access to the audio sounds we currently hold, please reply to this message and a new case will be launched to provide you with access to our 'Audio announcement' file.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,

Dear FOI,
Apologies on my part for the confusion.
Yes, please can I request access to the audio files you currently hold. Will the up to date versions become available via the same channel automatically when they are released?
Thank you for your help.
Yours sincerely,
Charlie Garratt
Dear Charlie Garratt,

Dear Charlie Garratt,
Our ref: FOI-3237-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 09 January 2025 asking for audio announcements.
Your request will be considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy, and we will issue you with a response by X February 2025. This includes data which is frequently asked for in FOI and EIR requests or other public queries. Please check http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transpar... to see if this helps you.

Dear Charlie Garratt,
Our ref: FOI-3237-2425
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 09 January 2025 asking for audio announcements.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
The audio announcements made available to you are copyrighted material and access is provided for personal use only with permission not granted for any re-production or re-use. In the event that these files are re-used in any way we are likely to consider this to constitute a breach of copyright and will consider appropriate next steps.
You should have received an email separately that provides a link to the requested audio announcements. All of the audio announcements across the full TfL network that we are currently able to provide access to are accessible via this site. However, please be aware that many of the audio announcements that can be heard across the network are actually made up of smaller, fragmented recordings which are then combined for the purposes of public announcements so there will be some instances where full recordings of specific stop/station names, numbers or locations are not held.
We intend to update these files on a six monthly basis and so any newer recordings will be uploaded as part of this pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to specific future FOI requests. This is to ensure our resources can be managed effectively. Therefore, if you are aware of newer recordings that have been created that are not yet uploaded, we would appreciate your patience with this as requests for these recordings will be refused under section 22 of the FOI Act on the basis that there is a pre-existing intention to publish these in accordance with our publication schedule. We would therefore encourage you to wait for this upload rather than submit requests for recordings in this way. To confirm, these updates are expected to occur around January and July of each year.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
