1) The total number of successful research grant awards in the area of Hydraulic fracturing, between Jan 1st 2001 and 2nd Dec 2014, broken down by each year?

2) The total value of successful research grant awards in the area of Hydraulic fracturing, between Jan 1st 2001 and 2nd Dec 2014, broken down by each year?

Dear Mr Taylor,

MRC Reference: FOIA 2014-059

Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request of 02
December 2014 in which you asked for information on successful
applications for research grants relating to hydraulic fracturing.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) is a publically funded organisation
dedicated to improving human health through world-class medical research.
We support research across the entire spectrum of medical sciences, from
fundamental laboratory-based science to clinical trials, and in all major
disease areas, in universities and hospitals, in our own units and
institutes in the UK, and in our units in Africa.

We have used the terms for hydraulic fracturing that you provided
(hydraulic fracturing, hydrofracturing, hydrofracking, fracking,
fraccing) to search the information that the MRC holds on successful
research grant awards made between 01 January 2001 and 02 December 2014.
I can confirm that the MRC has not supported any research where any of the
text fields mentions any of these terms.

Details of current and recent MRC research funding can be found on the
RCUK Gateway to Research ([1]http://gtr.rcuk.ac.uk/) and the MRC website
