Dear North Yorkshire County Council,
On the last two occasions North Yorkshire has run advertising campaigns for people to become foster carers for disabled children, please detail:
1 the dates of the campaigns?
2 how long the campaigns lasted?
3 how many responses the Council received per campaign?
4 of those responses, how many people became foster carers per campaign?
On average how long do people remain foster carers?
Dear Ms Redfellow

Dear Ms Redfellow
FOI Request N 9211
Thank you for your FOI request of 14 January 2015.
North Yorkshire County Council have not run specific campaigns to recruit foster carers for disabled children since the mid-1990s.
In 1996 the contract for providing family based care was given to two national charities who did that work on our behalf.
Our draft strategy for meeting the social care needs of disabled children, young people and their families makes reference to a proposal to build the number of family based short break opportunities available to children across North Yorkshire over the three year period 2015-2018. This will require investment in our in-house fostering service and a targeted recruitment campaign. Our draft strategy is currently subject to public consultation and this will end on 11 March 2015.
I hope this is helpful.
