Dear Information Rights Team,
Thank you for your reply. Can you say why this request is being treated differently to – FOI2021/00119 which asked for details of Branch numbers and was simply answered?

Good afternoon John,

Post Office continually reviews the way in which it responds to FOI requests; we appreciate that we provided this information to you back in March even though we were aware that the annual network report had just been published on our website. In this instance we determined that the most appropriate response was to direct you to the published figures and make you aware that these are done on an annual basis.

Kind regards

Dear information.rights,
Thank you for your reply. I don't understand your argument, you appear to be saying we answered your request in March because we wanted to and have turned this one down because we didnt want to reply. Do you not have a standard reply template (similar to SPM welcome pack/contract supplied on first day of service) that all FOI staff refer to. The issue of Branch numbers is too important to be revealed once a year., Aside from an obligation to HMG to provide 11500 branches SPM are desperate for news about the Network. I have mentioned before that I wish the NFSP would ask you these questions but they are busy in other areas. SPM need to know if their Branch type is an endangerd species-is the Business model broken? .Real time numbers will help. If the decision not to answer was based on legal advice can you say what that advice was? Can you further confirm your current interpretation of the FOI Act permits you not to answer if the information will be available in the next year or so?

Yours sincerely,

john o'sullivan
