Please see our response below.

Please could you provide the following information for the current
academic year (2017-2018):

The number of registered students with a visual impairment -

Information held. The University refuses your request for release under
section 21(1) of the Freedom of Information Act, 2000 (FoIA) as the
information sought is reasonably accessible to you by other means.
Information on student visual impairment can be obtained from the Higher
Education Statistics Agency ([1]HESA). Their data has a disability field
which specifies "Blind or a serious visual impairment uncorrected by
glasses".  For the purposes of this exemption, section 21 (2) (a) states,
'information may be reasonably accessible to the applicant even though it
is accessible only on payment'. For further information see, the
HESA [2]data and analysis webpage. Please note, data for the last academic
year will be published by HESA in line with its [3]publication schedule. 

In accordance with the provisions of section 17(4) of the Freedom of
Information Act this letter acts as a Refusal Notice in respect of the
information withheld under section 21(1) above.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted in writing to the Information Governance Officer
