Students Impacted by Industrial Action
Dear UHI Orkney,
I am contacting you to make a Freedom of Information Request. Please provide the following information, via the email provided, or via the ‘what do they know’ FOI system.
1) How many students, enrolled in any course at your college, have been unable to undertake assessments in the academic year 2023/24, as a result of the ongoing dispute. This should only include the number of students who have been impacted as a result of industrial action. This should not include details of students affected by sickness or staffing issues.
2) How many students, enrolled in any course at your college, have been unable to attain their final award, as a result of industrial action. This should not include details of students affected by sickness or staffing issues.
3) How many complaints has your college received from students relating to the industrial action, and the impact it has had on students?
4) How many teaching hours, in total, have been lost during the academic year 2023/24, as a result of industrial action?
Please provide the requested information, inline with the requirements under FOI legislation.

Under FOISA, if you are dissatisfied with our response, you may ask the Council to review its handling of your request. If you wish to do this, you should make your request for review within 40 working days of receiving this email. Your request must be in permanent form (letter, email, audio tape etc) and should state:
That you are asking for a review of this decision, and
Why you are unhappy with the response you have received.
We will issue a full response to your request for review within 20 working days of our receiving it.
Where the outcome of the review fails to resolve the matter to your complete satisfaction, you then have the right to apply to the Scottish Information Commissioner for a decision. You have six months in which to do so following receipt of our review outcome – see www.itspublicknowledge.info/Appeal.
