Student Rustications
Dear University of Oxford,
I would like access to some figures and statistics relating to student rustications over the past five academic years. Could you please provide me with, in a spreadsheet:
1) The number of students, broken down for each academic year between 2008-9 and 20013-14, who rusticated from each college (e.g. "Jesus,2008-9: 2 students rusticated");
2) Alongside this information,if the University has access to this information, please list the main reason for the student rusticating (e.g. Health Issues, Disciplinary), given as a number of students who rusticated per year per college for each reason (e.g. "Jesus, 2008-9... 1 student for disciplinary reasons, 1 student for health issues");
3) As a percentage per college per year, how many of those rusticated students returned to the University to resume their studies one year after rusticating (e.g. "Jesus, 2008-9: X% of rusticated students returned after one year of rusticating");
4) Again, as a percentage per college per year, how many of those rusticated students have not yet returned to the University to resume their studies.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Calver
Dear University of Oxford,
As well as the previously requested information, I'd also like to know how many students rusticated per subject for each academic year between 2008-9, and 2013-14.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Calver
Thank you for your requests. Can you clarify what you mean by 'rustications' please?
Dear UAS Foi,
Of course. By "rustication", I mean the case of a student whose studies have been suspended, for a fixed (usually a year) or indeterminate period, or until the fulfilment of specified conditions.This may be as a result of a decision by the University for disciplinary reasons, or for the student's health or personal reasons.
Under University Statute XI I am thus referring to students who have been both "rusticated" and "suspended" (http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/statutes/352-0...).
Yours sincerely,
Tom Calver
Dear UAS Foi,
The deadline has now passed for the FOI request I sent. By law, I should have received a response by yesterday (2 February 2015).
Please send me the information immediately.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Calver
