I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 29
November 2017, and subsequent clarification of 30 November 2017, in which
you requested information regarding Students' Union budgets.  Please note
that we have interpreted your request as relating to budgets managed by
the Students’ Union and if this is incorrect please let us know. 

 

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

 

Could I please request the following information:      --           
student media budget (including grants, facilities, etc.)

--            total Student Union budget for societies / student
activities

--            how much money has the Student's Union and/or university
allocated for student media groups (including  Cardiff Union TV, Gair
Rhydd, Quench, and Xpress Radio) in the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 academic
years

--            how much money has the Student's Union and/or university
allocated in general for student societies/groups in the 2016-2017 and
2017-2018 academic years

 

Records are not held by Cardiff University of Students’ Union budgets. 
This information would be held by the Students’ Union, whose constitution,
functions and privileges are governed by Ordinance 13, as approved by
Council, and within the framework of this Ordinance the Students' Union
has the power to manage its own affairs and funds. Ordinance 13 is

Please note that the Students’ Union is not a public authority in the
sense of the Freedom of Information Act and information cannot be
requested under FOI. However they may be able to help you with your
enquiry.
