Student accommodation in light of Covid-19

The request was successful.

Jasmine Bowling

Dear University of Wolverhampton,

In light of the Covid-19 outbreak I would like to ask about how safe you're making your
accommodation for students. Specifically:

1) What are you doing to make the accommodation safe for students in 2020/21?
2) What occupancy rates are you going to have in shared accommodation for September 2020?
3) How are you going to maintain social distancing in shared accommodation?
4) What data or research has led to your decisions?
5) How are you helping students who may not have accommodation to find other places to stay in the city for September 2020?

Yours faithfully,
Jasmine Bowling

Good Afternoon Ms Bowling,

Re: FOI-119-20

I write this email further to previous correspondence concerning the
above-referenced request received by the University of Wolverhampton on 13
July 2020, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (Act).

In accordance with the Act the University has 20 Working Days, to deal
with your request for information upon receipt.

Given the current circumstances that the UK finds itself in relating to
the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University along with many other
Universities, is required to divert resources away from our usual
compliance procedures and follow the Government advice, with many staff
now working from home.

This may mean, the response to your request will be potentially delayed
and compliance with the original response date may not be possible, as
access to the necessary online services may be limited.

Please be mindful that the University will try to the best of its ability
to provide the requested information to you as soon as possible.

The current situation has been acknowledged by the ICO in recent guidance
given to Information Governance practitioners. The ICO has provided that
they understand that in the current circumstances organisations might
divert resources both of a financial and physical nature away from its
usual compliance or Information Governance work.

Although the statutory deadline for compliance with your request remains,
they understand that requester’s (such as yourself) may experience
understandable delays during these extraordinary times.

If you have any concerns regarding the contents of this email, please feel
free to contact us to discuss the matter further.

Kind regards

Liam Jackson
