Waiting for an internal review by South Staffordshire Health Informatics Service of their handling of this request.

Dear South Staffordshire Health Informatics Service,

Please could you provide the structure of your Information

Porter Mary (YDDAF) South Staffs HIS, South Staffordshire Health Informatics Service

Dear R Griffiths

With regards to your recent Freedom of Information (FOI) request, South
Staffordshire HIS (SSHIS) are happy to oblige in responding to the request
in a relevant and timely manner, however,  the SSHIS are hosted by South
Staffordshire and Shropshire Foundation Trust (SSSFT) and have been asked
to coordinate the FOI requests coming in to HIS as a whole.

Please [1]click here to be redirected to the relevant page on South
Staffordshire and Shropshire Foundation Trust’s website where an official
request can be made following the correct process.

Many thanks

Dear Porter Mary (YDDAF) South Staffs HIS,

While I will pass my request on to [email address] as requested, it should be pointed out that the Freedom of Information Act states that a Freedom of Information request can be made to any member of staff within an organisation and should be responded to appropriately; in future rather than telling a requestor to make a request through a different contact you should pass the request on yourself and ensure it is picked up by the correct parties.

Yours sincerely,

R Griffiths

Dear South Staffordshire Health Informatics Service,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of South Staffordshire Health Informatics Service's handling of my FOI request 'Structure of Information department'.

I made a reasonable request asking for the structure of your information department. Instead of being provided this I was told to contact someone else and the information would not be provided. While I have resubmitted the request, this response from Mary Porter was expressly not in line with the Freedom of Information Act, nor was it in line with your own Trust's Freeom of Information Policy (http://www.southstaffsandshropshealthcar... - section 3.1, page 20) which states the request should be forwarded on to the Trust's Freedom of Information lead.

As this did not happen I would request that the Trust review their internal policites for dealing with Freedom of Information requests and ensure all staff tasked with dealing with FOI requests are appropriately trained and aware of their responsibilities.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/st...

Yours faithfully,

R Griffiths

Dear Mr R Griffiths

I apologise if you feel I have handled your request inappropriately, I did call our FOI team as this is the first time we (the HIS) have had a request direct to a member of staff since implementing a new process. I have forwarded your email to the FOI team and asked for us to speak about it and review if necessary our process.

My worry is that if requests come in to individuals own email and the individual is off, either sick of leave then your request may not be dealt with in a timely manner.

As mentioned I am waiting to hear from our FOI team and will come back to you shortly.

Many thanks
