Stretcher use / frequency of immobilisation

Lucy Kirby made this Freedom of Information request to South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust,

I have some questions regarding emergency medical situations that I am hoping you can provide answers too.

Firstly, how many NHS double-crewed ambulances are operating in Hampshire and how many RRV's are there?

If possible, I would also like to know how frequently a stretcher is used to move a patient when an Ambulance or RRV has been deployed. For example out of 100 ambulance deployments, how many times would a stretcher be utilised? Either for part of the journey/treatment or for the entire patient journey to A&E. I would also like to know how often immobilisation of patients is required. The most recent figures and statistics you can provide for this would be ideal.

Any information or figures that help answer these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Lucy Kirby

Yours faithfully,

Lucy Kirby

Dear Lucy Kirby

Thank you for your email requesting information regarding stretchers and ambulance numbers. I am sorry for the delay in coming back to you.

Having reviewed your email, I can see that you ask for information ambulance provision in Hampshire. Hampshire isn't an area routinely covered by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and I believe that the most relevant ambulance service for your query is likely to be South Central Ambulance Service (http://www.scas.nhs.uk/about-scas/).

Unless I hear from you otherwise I will assume that your email was sent to us in error. However, if there is any information that we can provide, please do not hesitate to get back in touch.

Kind regards
