Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Is there an online record / log somewhere for street lights that have been repaired? I am interested in street lights marked as repaired from Jan 2018 onwards in the CH41/CH42 and CH43 postcode areas.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Heelis

Dear Mr Heelis

Further to your recent Freedom of Information request, we apologise for
the delay in providing you with a response. Your query asked:

“Is there an online record / log somewhere for street lights that have
been repaired? I am interested in street lights marked as repaired from
Jan 2018 onwards in the CH41/CH42 and CH43 postcode areas.”

In response, Wirral Council does not have a definitive log of all repaired
street lights.  We have attached two spreadsheets showing the locations
where we have attended reported defective street lighting but this
spreadsheet does not record when/if the defects have been repaired.  It is
estimated that to determine which ones have been repaired will involve a
considerable amount of time to manually cross reference each record and is
likely to exceed the 18.5 hours limit set by the FOI legislation.

Under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, public
authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if
it is estimated that to do so would exceed the appropriate limit,
currently set at 18.5 hours. The Council relies on section 12 (1) of the
Act in this regard.

However, if you are able to narrow the scope of your enquiry to a specific
postcode/road then we will endeavour to provide the information if
possible within the legislative provisions.

You have the right under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
to ask for an internal review of the refusal of the information requested.
Please direct any request for an internal review to
[1][Wirral Borough Council request email] and your request will be allocated to
another officer for review.

If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of an internal review you also
have the right to complain to the information Commissioner, who can be
contacted at [2]https://ico.org.uk/global/contact-us/

Yours sincerely
