Stray dog information.

I am contacting you to request the following information regarding stray dogs.
• How many stray dogs entered pounds between 1st January 2010 and 31st December 2010?
• How many of these were reclaimed by their owners?
• How many were adopted from the pound?
• How many went to an animal rescue?
• How many were euthanized?
• What happened to any remaining dogs that did not fall into above categories?
• Do you keep any records as to which dogs were chipped?
• Do you keep any records as to the breed of the dogs?
• How many dogs entered the pound on more than one occasion?

Ms Bottle, In respect of your request, I must apologise as it would
appear that all requests via whatdothey know .com in the last 4 months
have failed to be passed on owing to an internal technical glitch. On

Please find below the response in relation to your FOI query to Blaenau
Gwent CBC:
1. How many stray dogs entered pounds between 1st January 2010 and
31st December 2010
173 stray dogs collected during this period. Of these 5 were returned
directly to their owner prior to kennelling.
2. How many of these were reclaimed by their owners
20 collected by their owner from the kennels.
3. How many were adopted from the pound?
Information not held by Authority as to how many animals were
directly adopted from the kennel
4. How many went to an animal rescue?
Information not held by the Authority as to how many animals were sent to
an animal rescue.
The information that can be provided in response to points 3 and 4 is
that 136 dogs were re-homed following kennelling by the Local
Authority.
5. How many were euthanized?
12 dogs were euthanized.
6. What happened to any remaining dogs that did not fall into above
categories?
There were no dogs unaccounted for that were sent to any other
destination.
7. Do you keep any records as to which dogs were chipped?
Yes where possible.
8. Do you keep any records as to the breed of the dogs?
Yes where identifiable.
9. How many dogs entered the pound on more than one occasion?
This information is not collected by the Authority
