At Cambridge City Council’s Community Services Scrutiny Committee on the 13th of November councillors resolved to recommend, in relation to the Strawberry Fair, that:

"a meeting of police and council with stakeholders take place in January 2009 to address community response issues. "

An action plan has been agreed, of which one of the items is for the
police to coordinate and chair a public stakeholder group. Amongst other
issues, this would aim to address pre event communication and the
formation of a multi-agency response unit to deal rapidly with matters
that arise during the event.

No representatives of residents were invited or attended.

Local councillors, residents associations, and the friends of midsummer common ought certainly to have been invited. Perhaps the MP and appropriate members of the police authority could have been included too.
