Thank you for your recent request for information which I have enclosed
below for ease of reference. Your request has been treated in accordance
with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and/or the Environmental
Information Regulations 2004.

Your Request :  REQ11752

I can confirm that we hold information that falls within the scope of your
request. The answers to your questions have been provided in Red Text
below.

Newport City Council has recently added the Welsh Government Elimination
Agenda to your Strategic Risk Register.  Could you please provide the
minutes from the panel who reviewed the risk proposal and specifics as to
why this was added and the criteria/level of risk it met to be added to
the risk register?

Newport City Council monitors risks every quarter during the financial
year.  All risks scoring 15 and above, and/or where the risk owner / Head
of Service consider the risk to have significant strategic impact on the
Council can be escalated for the Council’s Executive Board to review.  In
quarter 4, the Head of Children Services requested the risk Welsh
Government Elimination Agenda to be escalated to the Council’s Corporate
Risk Register as the risk scored 15 and the Head Service / Director of
Social Services consider the risk to have strategic impact on the delivery
of services.

On 31^st May 2023, the Council’s Executive Board reviewed this risk and
agreed that the risk should be included on the Council’s Corporate Risk
Register. 

The risk was reported to the [1]Council’s Cabinet on 12^th July 2023 and
[2]Governance & Audit Committee on 27^th July 2023
