Statutory requirement for retirement of a Denbighshire County Council?

The request was successful.

Dear Denbighshire County Council,

Please pass this on to whom it may concern.

Under the F.O.I.A. Could I simply request the statutory requirement for retirement of a Denbighshire County Council?

To be expressed as:-

1) Any present law relating to a 'retirement' age of a statutory elected councillor?
2) How many present Denbighshire County Councillors have achieved this age?
3) The age at which a Denbighshire County Councillor can claim a pension?
4) How many present Denbighshire County Councillors are 'drawing' a pension?
5) Noting above, is there a present maximum age a councillor can be?

Yours sincerely

FOI Response 2076

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr Bourne,

Thank you for your request for information received 14/03/2017 concerning
COUNCILLORS' RETIREMENT AGE. Please see below:
There is no statutory retirement age for councillors i.e no maximum age.
1) Any present law relating to a 'retirement' age of a statutory elected
councillor? N/A
2) How many present Denbighshire County Councillors have achieved this
age? N/A
3) The age at which a Denbighshire County Councillor can claim a pension?
Minimum age 55 unless it qualifies as ill health retirement which can be
at any age.
4) How many present Denbighshire County Councillors are 'drawing' a
pension? This cannot be determined as we would not know if a pension has
been deferred
5) Noting above, is there a present maximum age a councillor can be? N/A

If I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact
me.
