Dear Sir,

Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 – Request for Review

I refer to your email dated 26 February 2023, with reference to your FOI
2023-00095.

We can now set out a response to your question below.

Schools have been asked to use the Scottish Government guidance:
[1]https://education.gov.scot/media/xpgo5at...,
as well as other Scottish Government LGBTQ+ resources
[2]https://www.gov.scot/policies/lgbti as the basis for meeting the needs
of young people.

With regards to the age at which LGBTQ+ teaching commences throughout our
schools it is important to point out that LGBTQ+ is not 'taught' in the
sense of promoted. It is instead discussed as part of talking about the
importance of lessons on relationships - respectful, positive
relationships between people.

Should the outcome of this review fail to resolve the matter to your
complete satisfaction, you then have the right to apply to the Scottish
Information Commissioner for a decision. You have six months in which to
do so following receipt of our review outcome – see
[3]www.itspublicknowledge.info/Appeal.

Kind Regards

Hazel Flett
