Statistics relating to deaths resulting from Sepsis 2016

2. How many of these deaths have been due to poor performance related to not following hospital protocol?
3. What was the Hospitals protocol for diagnosis and treatment of Sespis during 2016?
4. How many complaints have been made by relatives or patients about concerns regarding the former?
5. Does the Trust use the N.I.C.E. guidelines for the diagnosis of Ward based Sepsis? and if so, when was this implemented.

We do not have access to this data, as sepsis is not a condition coded
for, there tend to be multiple underlying diagnoses.
2. How many of these deaths have been due to poor performance related to
not following hospital protocol?
No information available.
3. What was the Hospitals protocol for diagnosis and treatment of Sespis
during 2016?

4. How many complaints have been made by relatives or patients about
concerns regarding the former?
We are unable to provide this information, as we do not specifically log
or record ‘sepsis’ when logging complaints on Datix.
5. Does the Trust use the N.I.C.E. guidelines for the diagnosis of Ward
based Sepsis? and if so, when was this implemented?
We are in the process of implementing these guidelines following the
appointment of 2 deteriorating patient, sepsis and AKI nurses.
