I refer to your enquiry received on 10 October 2023 asking to be supplied with information
under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (“the FOISA”) for students who
enrolled on any undergraduate courses in the Faculty of Arts in 2019 as detailed below.
1. The number of enrolled students (students who became unconditional firm with St
Andrews and subsequently attended) who studied at least three A Levels.

2. The number of these students (in point 1 above) who achieved A Level grades of (in their

The University is unable to answer this part of the enquiry through the process of data-
retrieval. Details of achieved A-Levels is not held in a reportable and verifiable format.
The process involved requires data analysis, validation and a level of intellectual input
resulting in the creation of new information which is out-with the provisions of the FOISA.
Section 17 of the FOISA requires that a Scottish public authority confirms in writing where
information requested of it is not held and notice is therefore given in this regard.

Your right to seek a review of how your information request was managed

decision. In the event of an appeal to the SIC, the Commissioner will generally only be able
to investigate the matters raised in the request for review.
