Statistics of Scientific Procedures on Living Animals

The request was refused by Home Office Science Advisory Committee.

Dear Home Office Science Advisory Committee,

Under the user guide the Home Office collection of regulated scientific procedures, section 2.3 states that it should include all animals used and that protection of the natural environment, preservation of species and forensic enquiries.

Can the Home Office please answer why the Apes used at Twycross Zoo for research that has been commissioned and paid for by the UK Government is not accounted for on the annual statistics?

Yours faithfully,

Tarnia Wilson
