Dear Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs,

I would like to submit a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act relating to the Index of Exempted Dogs.

Please could you answer the following:

1. How many dogs are currently registered on the Index of Exempted Dogs?

2. Of those dogs exempted, how many are exempted as a pit bull type, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasiliero and Japanese Tosa?

3. How many dogs are currently in the process of being exempted?

4. How many exempted dogs are registered/owned by registered charities, registered companies or local authorities?

5. In relation to question 4, can you name the registered charities, companies or local authorities involved?

6. How many dogs received exemption during 2015?

7. How many of the dogs on the Index of Exempted Dogs have been assessed by an animal behaviourist?

8. How many have been assessed by a Dog Legislation Officer or Local Authority dog warden?

9. What is the current geographical spread of exempted dogs (e.g. by county or local authority area, depending on how this data is held)?

10. How many of the dogs on the Index of Exempted Dogs have previously been involved in dog fighting?

11. How many dogs were refused exemption in 2015 and how many of these had been involved in dog fighting?

Yours faithfully,

M Payne
