Statistics for vacant or disused buildings, commercial or residential

The request was refused by Bristol City Council.

Christina Constantinou

Dear Bristol City Council,

I would like to know if you have any official statistics for the number of disused spaces (residential or commercial) in each area of Bristol, and how long they have been vacant for. I am doing a bit of research into disused spaces and any information you have would be much appreciated!

Yours faithfully,

Christina Constantinou

Kirsty Watkins, Bristol City Council

Dear Christina,

Thank you for contacting us, I have passed your request to a Council Tax
Officer and they have asked if you can please clarify the following, in
order for them to provide you with a response;

Please can you specify which of the following you would consider disused
dwellings

•           Unoccupied but furnished dwellings– that have been so for more
than a month/2 months/3 months (please specify your parameter)

•           Unoccupied but furnished dwellings– that have been so for less
than a month/2 months/3 months (please specify your parameter)

•           2nd homes/employment related dwellings

•           Unoccupied and unfurnished dwellings – that have been so for
more than a month/2 months/3 months (please specify your parameter)

•           Unoccupied and unfurnished dwellings - that have been so for
less than a month/2 months/3 months (please specify your parameter)

•           Left empty by someone in care

•           Left empty pending the administration of a deceased estate

•           Left empty by someone in detention

•           Left empty by a student resident elsewhere

•           Left empty by someone providing care elsewhere

NB: taking into consideration that there is normally an unoccupied gap
between tenants in rental properties and that there is no indicator on
council tax dwellings to differentiate between rental and non-rental
dwellings)

Kind Regards
