Freedom of Information Act 2000 Response

Further to our acknowledgement we can now respond to your request for
information dated 22^nd February 2018 asking about statistics for the use
of ‘no fault’ evictions of the Housing Act 1988.

As you know we have dealt with your request in accordance with ‘your right
to know’ under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA),
which entitles you to be provided with a copy of any information ‘held’ by
a public authority, unless an appropriate exemption applies.

In your email of  you asked the following questions: -

Please can you tell me how many landlords have enforced Section 21 (‘no
fault’ evictions) of the Housing Act 1988 on their tenants over the past
five years (2012-2017).

Horsham District Council do not  record a figure for the number of
enforced section 21 notices but we have gathered the number of households
that we have considered homeless as a result of a termination of an AST.

These are:

2012/13 – 17

2013/14 – 13

2014/15 – 12

2015/16 – 7

2016/17 – 14

2017 – 28/02/18 – 22
