Statistics for the Annually replacement of Road Studs

The request was partially successful.

Dear Leicestershire County Council,

In brief my Company, Cyclops Road Studs Ltd has developed a device that illuminates road markings with UK, USA, CHINA & EUROPE patents granted and further patents pending globally.

I would very much appreciate information for the number of Road Studs that are replaced Annually in the UK within your Region? I understand that this is information that will be held on your behalf by various contractors and I have tried unsuccessfully to date to get access to the statistics I require by contacting the various manufacturers and road marking companies.

The only guide I have managed to source to Date is an online article which states that there are approx. 5oo Million Road Studs in the UK?

I have been advised to request an FOI in order to get these figures as I have been unable to get the information, I require from any of the contacts I have approached previously, and this seems to be the only option left to me

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO MY COMPANY THAT I HAVE THE CORRECT INFROMATION IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO FINALISE DISCUSSIONS WITH VARIOUS INVESTORS TO GET A ROUTE TO MARKET WHICH IS DEPENDENT ON THE ANNUAL REPLACEMENT FIGURES.

Yours faithfully,

Thomas Barker

Dear [email address],

I don’t have a specific timeline as such, so 4-6 weeks would be fine, as i understand it should never take longer than 40 working days to complete. Please confirm if you can proceed with my request within this timeline?

Yours sincerely,

Thomas Barker

leicestershire@infreemation.co.uk,

Dear Mr Barker,

Thank you for your reply. I think there may be some misunderstanding. To
clarify - we will provide our response within 20 working days.  The
information we required from you was the time period - do you just require
the figures for the last year, or would you like a longer timeframe, for
example the past 3 years? Are you happy for a single annual figure or
would you like this broken down into months?

Apologies for any confusion.

Kind regards,

FOI Team

Leicestershire County Council

Dear [email address],

The figures for the last year will be fine and as a single annual figure. I would also appreciate to know the total miles of roads that your calculation is taken from for your region?

I hope that this will be a lot less workload for you to compile. please confirm!

Yours sincerely,

Thomas Barker

leicestershire@infreemation.co.uk,

leicestershire@infreemation.co.uk,

Dear Thomas Barker,

I confirm that the information requested is held by Leicestershire County
Council.

Although we hold some information on road stud replacement, this
information it is not readily available.

We have estimated that the cost of locating and retrieving the information
exceeds the “appropriate limit” as stated in the Freedom of Information
(Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004. It is estimated that it
would cost more than £450 to comply with your request.

In order to locate and retrieve this information, it would be necessary to
review site project files which are currently archived. We have estimated
that it would take an average of 40 mins to review each project. We have
completed a total of 35 sites last year; hence the total hours required to
complete this task would be approximately 23 hours. This exceeds the 18
hour time limit.

Therefore, we are unable to complete your request on this occasion.

If you narrow the scope of your request the Council may be able to provide
the information free of charge because it would cost less that the
appropriate limit to do so, although we cannot guarantee this will be the
case.

Any reformulated request we receive will be treated as a new FOI request.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 this document acts
as a refusal notice under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act and
an exemption under Section 12 of the Act is being applied.

If you're not happy with how we’ve dealt with your Freedom of Information
request, you can complain and ask us to review our decision. Further
details are available from:

Dear Leicestershire County Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Leicestershire County Council's handling of my FOI request 'Statistics for the Annually replacement of Road Studs'.

[ GIVE DETAILS ABOUT YOUR COMPLAINT HERE ] THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT - there wasnt any other email

after reciving your email respnce it was recomended by you that I simplify my request.
I would like to know how many road studs you replaced within your county from any year (please specify the year). even if you only have some numbers available that would be helpful.
Could you also tell me how many miles of roads you look after/responsible for?
I hope this simplifies my request so its within your FOC timeline.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...

Yours faithfully,

Thomas Barker

Dear Thomas Barker,

Thank you for contacting us.

Please note the response to Could you also tell me how many miles of roads
you look after/responsible for? is LCC are currently responsible for
maintaining 4332km of highway (2708 miles).

When it comes to narrowing the scope of your request, I have received a
reply from our Environment & Transport Department that selecting any year
for the same request does not help avoid cost exceeds due to the volume of
data.
