Statistics for sexual misconduct at the University of Liverpool

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I request the following information about all instances of sexual misconduct reported by students at the University of Liverpool from 2015/2016 until the end of the 2019/20 academic year inclusive.

I request information on the following:

- The number of reported instances of sexual assault
- The number of reported instances of rape
(Including but not limited to those that took place within university operated premises, such as the students union, venues and halls of residence)
- Statistics of whether the perpetrator was a student or member of staff
- How many of these result in expulsion for the perpetrator
- How many of these have been referred to the Police

University of Liverpool.  Colleagues have provided the information
requested below.

 

I request the following information about all instances of sexual
misconduct reported by students at the University of Liverpool from
2015/2016 until the end of the 2019/20 academic year inclusive.

 

The University has defined complaint as taking disciplinary or other
action in relation to an allegation against a student or staff through
formal procedures. Some matters may be resolved informally; these are not
centrally recorded.

 

In accordance with Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act, the
University has not been able to give the exact counts of five or less,
because these are personal data of third parties or, if linked with other
personal identifiers in the public domain, would be likely to become
personal data and subsequently identify an individual. The University has
inserted a Less than or equal to five (<=5) value where applicable.
