Dear Mr Normand,
I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
20/12/19.
For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.
My request is regarding regarding statistics for the BSc Physics, BSc
Chemistry and BSc Biology courses or nearest equivalent where the precise
course doesn't exist. All requests are for the 2017/2018 cycle. Many
thanks.
Please can I have the following anonymised data about candidates who
applied for each course. Please could you provide the data separately for
each course.
1. For each applicant, can I know their A-Level predicted grades.
Due to the manner in which predicted grades are used by the University, no
development of effective data extraction tools has been undertaken.
Therefore, the time taken to extract, collate and sort this data would
exceed 18 hours and is therefore exempt from disclosure under section
12(2) of the Freedom of Information Act.
2. For each applicant, can I know their GCSE grades, and whether there
were any extenuating circumstances involved.
The production of GCSE data would exceed 18 hours to produce due to the
difficulty of extraction, de-duplication and sorting of this data, and
would be exempt from disclosure under section 12(2) of the Freedom of
Information Act.
3. For each applicant, could I know, where relevant, whether they were
successful in getting an interview and how this was graded.
We do not interview for these courses.
4. For each applicant, if their personal statement was given a score or
grade, could I know the corresponding score.
Personal statements are not scored or graded.
5. For each applicant, can I know whether they were successful in
receiving an offer.
