As of the end of June (our last reporting period) we had 1632 children and young people 0-19 years old on the Compass which is Brighton and Hove’s Disability register .

Application of national estimates of the prevalence of child disability to Brighton & Hove suggests a prevalence of between 3% (1,767) and 5.4% (3,181) of children and young people with disabilities in the
city.

Further Information from Adult Social Care;

“ There were 32,500 people with disabilities aged 16-64 in Brighton and Hove in 2011, 11% of whom have a serious physical disability.
There were an estimated 4,400 adults aged 18-64 years with a learning disability living in Brighton and Hove in 2011, with 6% with a severe learning disability. It is estimated that there will be a 3% increase in the number of adults with learning disabilities in the next 5 years and a 10% increase in the next 10 years, with the highest increase amongst people aged 55 or over and those with more severe learning disabilities,
