Statistics for Diagnoses of Munchausen's by Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

The request was successful.

Dear Lothian NHS Board,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. The information I’d like to receive is as follows:

- I’d like to know how many cases of Munchausen Syndrome (also known as factitious disorder imposed on self) have been diagnosed at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh since it first opened?

- I’d like the numbers of Munchausen cases for each department of the hospital.

- I’d like the number of cases per department also to be broken down by gender (i.e how many were male and how many were female).

NB - I’m only requesting the number of Munchausen cases (not Munchausen by Proxy).

Yours faithfully,

A.E.
