Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Could you please provide a breakdown of all types of benefits claimed by known ethnicity?

We would like to know:

a) The actual number of claimants of each benefit per tax year broken down by known ethnicity;

b) The percentage of claimants of each benefit per tax year broken down by known ethnicity;

c) The average length of each benefit per tax year claimed broken down by known ethnicity;

d) The average amount claimed of each benefit per tax year claimed broken down by known ethnicity;

e) The number of claimants per benefit who also claim for more than one spouse broken down by ethnicity.

We would like this data to be provided for the current tax year to date, going back as far as the time limit allows and have the data sorted per tax year.

Yours faithfully,

Calderdale Against Corruption

Dear DWP,

While we look at reworking our request, could you please provide us with the following information and treat it as a separate FOI request?

1) The job title and pay grade of the "one employee" who you assert would spend "3½ working days" fulfilling our request;

2) Details of the annual salary of the pay grade of the "one employee" mentioned in part 1);

3) Considering that the data held by the DWP is held electronically, we fail to see why it would take almost 4 days to retrieve what is seemingly straightforward information. Can you explain the rationale behind why your estimate would take so long?

Yours sincerely,

Calderdale Against Corruption
