Statistics for 20MPH Zones in Calderdale

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Calderdale Against Corruption

Dear Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council,

It has been a significant number of years since the introduction of the 20MPH zones in Calderdale, and the stated aim of these zones was to reduce casualties and collisions in these areas.

We ask that you provide the following information for 2019 and as many preceding years as the time limit will allow:

1) The number of Road Traffic Accidents in the areas now designated 20MPH zones BEFORE the speed limit was reduced to 20MPH, broken down by year;

2) The number of Road Traffic Accidents in the areas now designated 20MPH zones AFTER the speed limit was reduced to 20MPH, broken down by year;

3) The number of casualties in the areas now designated 20MPH zones BEFORE the speed limit was reduced to 20MPH, broken down by year;

4) The number of Road Traffic Accidents in the areas now designated 20MPH zones AFTER the speed limit was reduced to 20MPH, broken down by year;

If CMBC do not hold this information, can you refer us to the organisation which does hold this information?

Yours faithfully,

Calderdale Against Corruption

Lydia Kitchen, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
