Statistics and information on how people with disabilities are treated

My name is Richard Clarke and I work for an advocacy network called Solihull action through advocacy as a link worker. We are linked to various other advocacy groups throughout the west midlands and we are looking at trying to get a national picture of how the disabled are treated within hospitals and care homes. We are obviously not looking to here individuals private stories but are looking for statistics such as which hospitals have specialist nurses for the disabled, the rate of complaints amongst the disabled and any other relevant issues. What if I have an enquiry or complaint about hospital care, NHS 111 or
out-of-hours GP services?
If your enquiry or complaint is about secondary care, this includes
hospitals, NHS 111, mental health services, out-of-hours services and
community services such as district nursing, you will need to contact the

Does the NHS England Customer Contact Centre provide medical advice?
No. Our advisors are not clinically trained and are unable to provide
medical advice. If you require emergency medical attention, dial 999 or
attend your local Accident and Emergency department if you are able to do
so.
If you require non-urgent medical advice please contact your GP, local
walk-in or urgent healthcare centre, or call NHS 111. Calls are free from
landlines and mobile phones.
How do I report a change of name or address?
You should report a change of name or address to your GP practice so they
can update their records. If your new address is outside the practice’s
catchment area you may be asked to register with a new GP practice.
You should also advise your dentist or optician of a change of name or
address as they keep their own records.

NHS England is not, at this stage, able to proceed with your enquiry under
the (FOI) Act, as your request is unclear.
It may help if we first explain that the FOI Act gives you the right to
ask any public sector organisation for the recorded information they have
on any subject. You can ask for any information you think a public
authority may hold. The right only covers recorded information which
includes information held on computers, in emails and in printed or
handwritten documents.
Your request can be in the form of a question, rather than a request for
specific documents, but the authority does not have to answer your

I represent an organisation called Solihull action through advocacy and we have regular meetings to discuss things related to disability and this includes healthcare services. We would like to get an idea of the overall satisfaction of disabled people with the nhs services and whilst you may not be able to help there we feel that you could help by letting us know which hospitals have specially trained LD nurses and what training is undertaken. Also if available do you have overall satisfaction figures for disabled people who have stayed in hospitals? Thank you very much.
