Statement of Community Involvement

The request was successful.

Dear Newcastle upon Tyne City Council,

Here at Civic Voice we are campaigning to put public participation at the heart of the planning system. With this in mind:

- Can you confirm as to whether your local authority has a Statement of Community Involvement?

- Can you confirm when the authority published the Statement of Community Involvement?

- When is your next expected consultation/update?

- Do you have a publicly available link to the SCI?

- Is the local Civic Society or Civic Trust identified by the local planning authority as a Consultee (whether Statutory or Non-Statutory) in the Planning System within the Statement of Community Involvement?

Yours faithfully,

Sarah James

Dear Sarah

With regards to your FOI I can confirm that the Council does have an
adopted Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).

The first version was adopted in 2006 and revised it in 2013 and August
2018.

We are not planning to review our SCI in the near future but our Local
Development Scheme (LDS) sets out our planning work programme for the
three year period to 2020, see the link below.  Appendix 1 of the LDS sets
out the timetable for the Development Allocation Plan up to adoption in
Winter 2019.

The SCI includes a list of Statutory Consultees which does not include the
Civic Society or Civic Trust.  Non statutory consultees are not listed.  I
have checked our Consultation Database for policy matters and neither the
Civic Society or Civic Trust is listed however they can be added at any
time if a request is made to do so.
