Dear Brenda Prentice

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) launched its new website on 31 January 2017. This means many links on the PHSO's previous website no longer work.

You should find the content you are looking for here: https://www.ombudsman.org.uk/news-and-bl...

I apologise for any inconvenience and hope this information is useful.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman,
It is difficult to understand how Sir Jon can make such a statement as he takes no part in what goes on in PHSO so only knows what it is told by staff, like The Dame.

He does not respond to any services users and does not get involved with any individual cases even though two committee members we are told. do.

One can only wonder why he is on the committee.

Yours faithfully,

Brenda Prentice

Well done Brenda and well spotted.

It is 4 years since we attended Westminster & STILL the coverup and lack of transparency continues.

The proclamation from PACAC chairman Bernard Jenkin, writing on behalf of PACAC, is still there:

The one where he extols Dame Julie Mellors 'rigorous standards'.

And after all the evidence given to PACAC, by the public, and the Health Service Journal articles.

What a very supportive part of the Establishment this is.

But that's longer, so could this be the longer statement that you thought of Brenda?

Thanks JT,

So Sir JS is another one sicking his head in the sand and taking the money....

It's just the standard sort of thing they say about each other.

Not saying it is in this case - probably not - but sometimes drafted by PR department.

No JT this is the letter from Bernard J praising the Dame. An amazing document in itself.
What I saw was a statement from Sir Jon Shortridge in praise of the Dame. I'm just trying to figure out where he gets his knowledge from as he doesn't look at indevidual cases, so can't understand the public frustration at the service. As he takes no part in the PHSO apparently, maybe that's why he thinks all is as well as staff tell him. He should take his Governance duties, if that's what they are, more seriously.
I expect he is paid if only expenses. But then as PHSO is unaccountable, why would it matter.

As you say, must be a template somewhere.

B-...Only proffered that , as you said letter was longer and there were two 'Farewell DJM' letters.

:::

Usual protocol - when someone has to resign suddenly - is to be very circumspect in wording goodbye's.

It must have been difficult to word a letter in Dame Julie Mellor's case- as Sir Alex Allen pointed out that she basically sat on the Mick Martin Tribunal information for eight months.

As an ombudsman - supposedly above reproach - alarm bells should have rung and she should of taken the critical tribunal verdict very seriously immediately she received Helen Marks's letter and the Tribunal verdict.

In a normal business - let alone an ombudsman - HR would have interviewed him immediately and possibly suspended him - while investigations into his conduct took place.

Why this didn't happen is surprising. As the fact that he had tried to manoeuvre his friend, also Involved in the Helen Marks case, and whose conduct was also mentioned in the verdict, into a PHSO job would have been on file.

At least she should of been warned by the following bulletin.

So I would have expected both letters to be a tad less glowing - as ,with any reference, both men were also putting their own reputations on the line.

::

If you are right, that the letter is shorter, then maybe Jon Shortridge had second thoughts ....and asked for some of his laudatory letter be removed from the PHSO site.

Hello Brenda,

"Vigorous" was the phrase used to describe DJM's tenure as Ombudsman?

What?

How do Victims , Complainants and Human Rights Campaigners critical of the PHSO get to view a copy of these letters praising DJM's tenure?

Or has Della already pointed us to copies of these letters on http://phsothefacts.com/ ?
