Dear HM Revenue and Customs,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of HM Revenue and Customs's handling of my FOI request 'Stamp Duty - Higher Rates For Additional Properties'.
This is my second attempt at requesting this information and I have now thinned my request down to 2 figures. You are telling me it would take more than 24 hours to supply these figures. Please can you explain how? Surely you just need to do a basic database search/report which will take comfortably under 1 hour.
Are you really telling me your department in charge of tax collection is in such disarray that you don't have a database that can be queried? If you cannot monitor the whole system quickly and easily how do you do things like staff evaluations? Or track budgets?
It strikes me that it is just not convenient for you to release this information and I will be taking this to the Information Commissioner should I not get a satisfactory response.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/s...
Yours faithfully,
Sam Grilli
