Dear Tabitha

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated
25^th April 2019 in which you requested information regarding staffing
statistics.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

1.     How many members of staff are in you Accounts / Finance team(s)?

There are 69.7 FTE (full time equivalent) members of staff within the
central Finance team

In addition to the central University HR, Recruitment and Finance teams,
the responsibility for HR, Recruitment and Finance is delegated to the
Academic Schools within the University. The number of staff engaged in
these activities is not centrally collated. s there are 24 Academic
Schools it would take considerably more than 18 hours to collate the
information you require.  The University is not obliged to spend more than
18 hours (as set by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection
(Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004) collating such information
and accordingly the exemption provided by section 12(2) of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 will apply.

2.     Can you provide an organisational chart for this team(s)?

Please see attached chart.

3.     How many members of staff are in your HR & Recruitment teams?

There are 84 members of staff with the central HR team. In addition please
see comments under question 1.

4.     Can you provide an organisational chart for this team?

Please see high level organisational chart attached.

5.     What was your agency spend in 2018 and do you have a predicted
spend in 2019? If you could be specific to the Accounts and HR teams that
would be preferable.

The University’s accounting year runs from August to July.  

Please note that these figures represent costs for agency labour costs,
activities such as advertising and also campaign management costs:

Agency spend for the whole University in 2017/2018: £2,247,104.68

Agency spend for the whole University in 2018/2019 (to date): 
£1,504,031.04.

Agency spend for Finance for 2017/18: £113,000

Agency spend for HR for 2017/18: £nil

6.     What recruitment framework are you part of and what agencies do you
use?

We are not in a recruitment framework.
